Biography
John Ainsworth is a professor of health informatics at The University of Manchester. His research focuses on harnessing computing technology to enhance data science, applying data analytics to improve health services, and applying emerging computing technologies to create novel healthcare interventions.

To deliver lasting impact from research, John has founded two spinout companies, one of which he is its CEO. He has a varied career with degrees in physics, cognitive science, and health informatics, and has worked in industry as a software engineer. He is involved in numerous research projects, but with a singular focus: to use computing and information technology to improve the health of the population.

I had the pleasure of listening to Prof Ainsworth at a recent precision medicine conference at Khalifa University and was very insightful and wanted my learners at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City - SSMC to benefit

These are efforts for the last few years to try and tackle the "people" element of transformation we all need to invest to get the real gains at the bedside to benefit patients and #healthcaresystem

I was attending the recent #arabhealth2024 and saw so much tech that can easily improve patient care right here and right now. But currently, all these companies are selling to #CEO #CIO

But we, those who look after patients are not educated on what this technology can do to help to improve #patientoutcomes and bring efficiencies in our legacy clinical workflows that were designed in the 70's and 80's when most of this tech was not there.

I am speaking at a couple of upcoming education conferences at Khalifa University and United Arab Emirates University my pitch will be the same are we training the next generation of #healthcareprofessionals to be ready for #futureofwork

I have a bunch of programs running at SSMC to address exactly this pain point to have a successful transformation in #healthcareoperations. Some more projects that I have been unable to start and looking for some executive sponsorship 🙂

Looking forward to meeting and engaging with folks who are all looking to transform this failed model which was developed in the West

We don't have the "legacy debt" ( h/t Asutosh Upadhyay) we could potentially design a healthcare system on this blank canvas

Thanks for reading,
